13 cases filed in an hour in Ctg’s GEC intersection for violating ‘lockdown’ restrictions

Thirteen cases have been filed within an hour at the busy GEC intersection of Chattogram city this afternoon for violating government restrictions and stepping out with private cars during the ongoing "strict lockdown".
Md Abu Nayeem, a sergeant of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), who is stationed at the GEC intersection, confirmed it to The Daily Star this afternoon.
"I came to the GEC intersection around 3pm for my regular duty. I filed eight cases for being out and about in cars without 'movement pass' while my colleague filed five more till 4pm," the police official said.

The violators of the government-imposed restrictions are being fined along with the cases, reported our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting the police sergeant.
"I have been fined Tk 3,000. I didn't know that I need to take a movement pass to be out," Abu Kalam, who was fined, told The Daily Star.
