Bangabandhu’s birth centenary: Ajoy Chakrabarty composes new raag ‘Maitree’

Globally renowned vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty composed a new raag named "Maitree" to commemorate the celebrations of Bangabandhu's birth centenary and as an ode to India-Bangladesh friendship.
It is a newly composed raag with fully traditional and classical rules of Raga music.
Three compositions will be presented. All three written in Sanskrit, Hindi and Bengali are newly composed.
The Sanskrit one is composed by world famous Philosopher Dr Arindam Chakraborti, professor of Hawaii University, USA. The Hindi lyric is composed by Dr Susmita Basu Majumder and developed by Dr Ravi Burman, a famous professor of Hindi and the Bengali song is written by Ajoy's student, young maestro and composer Anal Chatterjee.
All the three songs are musically composed by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.
The occasion of 50th Independence of Bangladesh and the completion of 100 years of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are mentioned in all these compositions.
It will be a historical programme in presence of both the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh. This unique friendship of both countries is also mentioned in the lyrics.
