British Bengali girl walks 40km to raise funds for street children in Bangladesh

Hannah Miah, a 9-year-old from Manchester, has completed a 40km charity walk to raise £14,535 (Tk 17,45,224) for street children in Bangladesh.
After watching a heartbreaking video on street children during Ramadan, Hannah reflected on how fortunate she was, having a family and home. She decided she had to do something to help, and set herself a target of £1,000. Thanks to overwhelming community support, she exceeded her goal and raised over £14,000 for the cause.
"The support from everyone in the community has been unbelievable and has brought everyone together," said Hannah's mother Jewel Miah.
Hannah hoped that her efforts would raise awareness of the daily struggles that street children are facing, and lead to the rescue of as many children as possible from the streets.
According to the UN, there are an estimated 600,000 street children in Bangladesh.
Often they are abandoned or trafficked into the most unspeakable of situations and face the dangers and perils of street life.
Hannah received The Oldham Pledge high achievement award and Morrisons' Little Sunshine in the community award for her charity work.
