Doctor found dead at home in Dhaka’s Kalabagan

Police recovered the body of a doctor from her house in the city's Kalabagan area this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Kazi Sabira Rahman (47), a physician at Green Life Hospital.
Police are suspecting that she was murdered as the body had stab marks.
Shahen Shah Mahmud, additional deputy commissioner (New Market Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they recovered the body from a flat on the second floor of the building.
The body bore injuries from sharp weapons, he said.
Meanwhile, Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service Control Room, said two units of firefighters rushed to the house after being informed of the fire at the flat around 10:30am.
"The fire was doused before we reached but firefighters saw a body there. We later handed the body over to police," she said.
Police suspect that unknown killers killed her and set her bed on fire to divert the law enforcers' attention.
Kazi Harun or Rashid Mridha, an uncle of the deceased, "the killers tried to brand it as death in a fire incident but we think it is a pre-planned murder."
Family members said the doctor's husband stays separately in Shantinagar area and their son is preparing for going to Canada for higher studies. The doctor's daughter used to live with her sometimes but she was at her grandmother's house in Green Road during the incident.
Mahbubul Islam, owner of the flat, said he rented out the three-room flat to the doctor in January at Tk 28,000 per month. The woman had back then said her children would stay with her as her husband was abroad.
"Today, we came to know that she sublet two of the rooms" he said.
Police picked up three persons including the caretaker of the house for interrogation.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy.
