JS body for sedition charges against those spreading propaganda through social media

A parliamentary body today recommended to take necessary actions against Bangladeshi citizens at home and abroad under sedition law for spreading propaganda through social media against the country.

A parliamentary body today recommended to take necessary actions against Bangladeshi citizens at home and abroad under sedition law for spreading propaganda through social media against the country.  

The parliamentary watchdog on home affairs in its meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban also decided to discuss this issue elaborately in the committee's next meeting. 

Ruling Awami League MP and chief of the committee M Shamsul Haque Tuku presided over the meeting. 

The Jatiya Sangsad committee in its meeting also recommended to send letters to each Deputy Commissioner from the ministry to give priority to lawmakers while issuing firearms.

The meeting was attended by committee members and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Mohammad Afsarul Amin, Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Nur Mohammad, Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed and Begum Rumana Ali.

At the meeting, the committee asked for necessary steps to be taken in consultation with the law ministry so that the accused arrested in the Narcotics Control Act could not be released on bail.

The committee recommends that the accused involved in all the cases, including the Narcotics Control Act, should not be given any exemption regardless of their party affiliation.
