The government has issued a gazette notification, extending the ongoing restrictions -- till May 5 -- imposed on public and vehicular movement to prevent the surge of coronavirus cases.

The notice lists the "do's and don'ts", with some additional restrictions.

The newly-added restrictions are:

1. The government has imposed a ban on entry of travellers from India through the country's land, river and air ports. However, vehicles carrying goods and essentials will be out of the purview of the restrictions. Bangladeshis, who are now in India and whose visas have expired, can enter Bangladesh on special consideration, taking permission from the Bangladesh High Commission. The ministries and authorities concerned will ensure that the Bangladeshi returnees follow the health rules issued by the health directorate.

2. Shops and shopping malls will remain open from 10am to 8pm, maintaining health guidelines. Commerce and labour ministries and related business organisations and market management committees will take steps to ensure that the shops and shopping malls maintain health guidelines. Legal action will be taken against the rule-violators.

3. Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat will be held as per the directives of Ministry of Religious Affairs.

4. Passengers coming from Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia and China with vaccination certificates and Covid-19 negative certificates will have to stay home for 14 days. But they will have to inform about their return and quarantine to the local police stations.

5. Passengers returning from the above-mentioned countries, who only have Covid-19 negative certificates, will be in quarantine under government management. They will be allowed to go home after 3-5 days and stay in 14-day home quarantine after doctors give permission following tests. They must inform the respective police stations.

6. Passengers from other countries will stay in 14-day quarantine at government-designated hotels at their own cost.
