Violence over Modi's visit: Police appeal to show 'Shishu Bokta' arrested

Police today appealed to a Dhaka court to show Rafiqul Islam Madani, more widely known as "Shishu Bokta" arrested in another case filed with Paltan Police Station over the recent violence in Dhaka centering Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on March 26.
Sub-Inspector Md Zahidul Alam of Paltan Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the petition for showing Rafiqul arrested even though his name was not included in the First Information Report.
The IO also submitted a seven-day remand prayer for quizzing him about the incident.
Metropolitan Magistrate Debdash Chandra Adhikary fixed May 27 for hearing on the petition digitally.
The magistrate also sent a virtual link to the jail authorities who are custodians of the accused.
Earlier on May 10, Rafiqul Islam was sent to jail on completion of his 16-day remand in three cases filed with Motijheel and Tejgaon police stations under the Digital Security Act and the Penal Code.
On April 7, Rab arrested Rafiqul from his ancestral home in Netrokona's Purbatola area.
Later he was placed on different terms of remand in two cases filed with two police stations of Gazipur district.
