With archrivals Awami League and BNP going head to head, the country’s attention is fixed on Dhaka as the capital goes to polls tomorrow to elect mayors and 172 councillors of its two city corporations.

The government asks the diplomatic missions in Dhaka not to include local employees who are Bangladeshi citizens as part the election observer teams for the Dhaka City Corporation Elections scheduled for February 1.

Students of 548 educational institutions, including 313 high schools and 235 madrasas, recently joined the Student Cabinet elections to elect their leaders.

Amid reservations of opposition political parties and experts and confusion among many voters, the Election Commission is all set to hold its first major all-EVM polls.
