Shooters improve but still fall short of target

Bangladesh's premier shooters made slight improvements in terms of scores, yet fell short of medal contention in the Singapore Online Shooting Competition, which took place today.
Bangladesh had eight male and six female shooters in air rifle and pistol events, most of whom had featured in the Asian Online Shooting Championship which had taken place earlier in the week.
While none of the 14 shooters managed to win a medal today, some improved on their individual scores from the previous event.
Shakil Ahmed finished eighth in the final round of 10m air pistol event after scoring 575 points in the qualification round earlier in the day. Shakil, a siilver medallist in 2018 Commonwealth Games, had scored 566 points in the Asian Online Shooting Championship.
In women's 10m air pistol event, Armin Asha finished seventh while Anjila Amjad finished eighth.
Meanwhile, two-time Commonwealth Games silver medallist Abdullahel Baki finished fourth in 10m air rifle event. Baki, who had scored 619.3 points in the previous event, scored 623.2 points today in qualification round. Reasatul Islam finished seventh in the same event while Syeda Atkia Hasan finished sixth in women's 10m air rifle event.
Unlike the Asian Online Shooting Championship where the top shooters from 22 countries of the continent took part, today's event featured shooters from only seven countries, namely Bangladesh, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey and Singapore.
