How logical is reducing movement restrictions when Covid-19 is unrestrained?
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has warned that if the Covid-19 surge is not controlled within one week, the situation can turn extremely severe.
Despite the warning, the government has announced easing of movement regulations during the coming Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
According to the new directives, after July 14 the regulations will be reduced, intra- and inter-division public transport will resume, and cattle markets will be allowed to host customers. However, the experts are expressing concerns about the negative effect of this decision.
So, is the government going to pay the price of countless human lives in exchange for less restrained Eid celebrations?
On Straight from Star Newsroom, Mohammad Al-Masum Molla discusses these issues with The Daily Star chief reporter Partha Pratim Bhattacharjee.
