Book launch at Pathak Shamabesh
A vibrant launching ceremony of “Celebrations & Other Stories”, a book of short stories by five prominent Bangladeshi women writers, was held at Shahbagh's Pathak Shamabesh premises recently.
Masrufa Ayesha Nusrat, Assistant Professor of English Literature at East West University, translated 15 Bangla stories of Anwara Syed Haq, Husne Ara Shahed, Jharna Rahman, Nasreen Jahan, and Papree Rahman that depict the life and living of women in Bangladesh. Attended by scholars, literary personalities and book-lovers such as Prof.
Niaz Zaman, Kaiser Huq, Mansur Musa, poet Kamrul Hassan, writer Parvez Hossain as well as students of different universities, the event witnessed a lively discussion and reading session by Prof. Razia Sultana Khan, Dr. Shuchi Karim, Syed Badrul Ahsan and the original writers of these stories. The discussants hoped for a wide readership of this book appreciating the effort of the translator.
