Celebrating the Bard

A three-day Rabindra festival at the Shahzadpur Kachharibari in Sirajganj marking the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore concluded on Sunday. A discussion and cultural programme were the highlights of the festival. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Rabindra festival on Friday.
Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Billal Hossain chaired the concluding programme while noted Rabindra researcher Nasim Uddin Malitha presented the keynote paper on the life and works of Tagore.
Speakers said that despite being the landlord of Shahzadpur estate, Rabindranath Tagore was the first to promote communal harmony here.
Artistes from Sirajganj Shilpakala Academy along with local artists performed Rabindra sangeet, dance and recited poems.

A three-day celebration of Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore's 154th birth anniversary ended on Sunday night at the Shilidah Kuthibari, also known as Rabindra Kuthibari.
Kushtia district administration supported by Ministry of Cultural Affairs arranged the programme. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the programme as chief guest.
The event included a discussion, cultural programme and Rabindra Mela.
Around 26 cultural organisations from the district took part in the cultural programme. Kushtia film society also presented six films based on the life and works of the poet.
