Celebrating Life 2016 Gala tonight

The grand gala ceremony of The Daily Star-Standard Chartered Celebrating Life 2016 Film, Photography and Lyrics Contest will be held tonight, at the Noborattri Hall of the International Convention City Bashundhara.

The photo exhibition will be inaugurated by Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor. He will be accompanied by Mahfuz Anam, Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star -- and Abrar Anwar, CEO of Standard Chartered, Bangladesh.

This year's Celebrating Life Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are Ferdausi Majumdar, Reza Latif and Alam Khan. They will be honoured for their contributions in their individual fields. The winners of Celebrating Life 2016, three from each category -- film, photography and lyrics will also be handed their awards at the ceremony. 

Apart from the awards, the Gala will feature a vibrant cultural programme, beginning with Rabindra Sangeet, “Anondoloke”, led by Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and her group, along with a dance performance in sync with the song conducted by Samina Husain Prema and her troupe.

“Tumi Nirmolo Koro Mongolo Kore” will be presented by Ferdous Ara and her group, which will be choreographed by Abu Nayeem and his team. “Joy Houk, Shotter Joy” will be led by Sadya Afreen Mallick and her troupe, and the dance performance for this choir will be conducted by Rachel Priyanka.

There will also be performances by Tahsan, Arnob, Chirkutt and Joler Gaan, who will give their voices to the winning lyrics of Celebrating Life 2016 and more.
