Chhayanaut celebrates Nazrul Utshab 1422
Nazrul aficionados celebrated the bard's 116th birth anniversary as Chhayanaut organised a two day-long Nazrul Utshab (festival) 1422 at its main auditorium on May 29 and 30 for the seventh consecutive year.
Artistes of Chhayanaut began the festival with a choral rendition of the song “Anjali Loho Mor” while a number of artistes, with mongolprodip, presented a lively dance to the song “Srijono Chhondey Anondey”.
Dr. Sarwar Ali, vice-president of Chhayanaut, gave the welcome address while the festival inaugurator SM Ahsan Murshed delivered the Nazrul memorial lecture at the festival. General secretary of Chhayanaut, Khairul Anam Shakil presented the vote of thanks.
Several Chhayanaut artistes, Shrabanti Dhar, Dhruba Sarkar, Jannat-E-Ferdausi Lucky, Nahian Doordana Shuchi and Rifat Ara Toma and others, rendered solo songs -- “Ami Gogoney Gahoney”, “Dhuli Pingol Jotajut”, “Sur-e O Banir Mala”, “Jaak Na Nishi”, “Mor Prothom Moner” and more respectively at the session.
Several noted artistes including Khalid Hossain, Sumon Chowdhury, Dr. Nashid Kamal, Yakub Ali Khan, Dalia Nausheen, Yasmin Mushtari, Nasima Shaheen and Jagadananda Roy rendered solos at the event.
Elocutionist Sumona Biswas recited Nazrul poems at the programme.
Chhayanaut artistes wrapped up the opening day's festival with a choral song “Tora Shob Joyoddhwani Kor”. Several dancers performed to the live performance.
