Daylong cultural festival in Kushtia
A day long national cultural festival was held in Kushtia on Monday.
Science and Literature Society (SLS) and Dalchut organised the event at Kushtia municipality ground. Five institutions-- Kushtia Municipality, Kushtia Chhobighor, Himu Paribahan, English weekly The Kushtia Times and Photographic Society Kushtia assisted in the programme.
Over 20 different arts events featuring traditional and ethnic dances, painting competitions for children, snake charming, Jatrapala, Lathi khela, digital art, flower arrangement, riding on buffalo cart, puthi, poem and baul songs recitation and more were arranged.
Enthusiastic visitors had a chance to take part in many events. An information cell was also in place where visitors collected information on various cultural matters.
Earlier in the morning, a colourful procession was brought out. Hundreds of people in traditional attire joined the rally.
Kushtia municipality mayor Anwar Ali inaugurated the event as chief guest with Ahasanul Kabir Rana, Associate Professor of Kushtia Government College as special guest.
In the evening, Dr. Amanur Aman, editor and publisher of Kushtia based traditional Bangla daily Dainik Kushtia and English weekly The Kushtia Times distributed prizes among the participants.
People from different walks of life as well as school and college students attended the festival.
