Discussion on European fiction held
A literary program was held on 19th century European fiction at Omni Books in the capital's Dhanmondi on January 16. The event was organised by Shahnoor Wahid, Special Supplements Editor of The Daily Star, says a press release.
Professor Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, Vice Chancellor of Kazi Nazrul Islam University; Professor Dr. Fakhrul Alam, Department of English, University of Dhaka; Towheed Feroze, Communications Adviser, World Bank; Umme Kulsum, Department of English, Daffodil International University; Mahfuz Ul Hasib Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer, Department of English, Metropolitan University Sylhet; Nazua Idris, Senior Lecturer, Department of English, East West University attended the programme among others.
The discussion centered on prominent 19th century authors including Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy and their novels with special references to social reforms.
Neo Mendez, CEO of Omni Books gave the vote of thanks at the programme.
