Five-day National Rabindra Sangeet Festival by BRSSS opens
Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha (BRSSS) in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) has arranged a five-day 26th National Rabindra Sangeet Festival to celebrate the 154th birth anniversary of Tagore at the Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium, Central Public Library, Shahbagh in Dhaka. The theme for this year's festival is “…Hou Mrityutoron Uttirno, Jaak, Jaak Bhengey Jaak Jaha Jirno.”
Poet Asad Chowdhury inaugurated the festival as chief guest on May 5. Sandeep Chakravorty, Deputy High Commissioner of Indian High Commission in Dhaka, graced the occasion as special guest. The organisers honoured seasoned Tagore singer Nasreen Shams on the inaugural day.
Artistes of BRSSS are celebrating Kobiguru's birth anniversary with renditions of his songs and recitations of his poems and writings everyday. Dance presentations will take place on May 8 and 9.
BRSSS will celebrate the 91st birth anniversary of Tagore exponent and artiste Kalim Sharafi on the concluding day (May 9). The organisers will also honour veteran Tagore singer Kazi Shahjahan Hafiz on the day. Noted singer-composer Anup Bhattacharjee and Joyshree Kundu, Director IGCC, Dhaka will be present as special guests.
