The 2nd International Women's Film Festival Bangladesh (IWFFB) began in the capital on March 14 with the theme “Film in women's eyes”. The festival opened with Samia Zaman's film “Akash Koto Durey”.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the festival as chief guest at the Shawkat Osman auditorium of Central Public Library. Prominent actress Sarah Begum Kobori and women leader Rezwana Khan attended the inauguration ceremony as special guests.

The four-day festival, March 14-17, features 70 films -- feature, shorts, documentary and animation -- by women filmmakers from different countries, including five by Bangladesh filmmakers. Moreover, the festival has free workshops and seminars for women.

The aim of the event is to inspire Bangladeshi women to take filmmaking as a profession through introducing them with the cultures, heritages and perspective of other countries of the world.

The festival is dedicated to Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, the pioneer of women's awakening in Bangladesh.

The festival is open for women, which is being sponsored by Fair & Lovely Foundation.
