Tagore's lyrical and dance-dramas in spotlight
As part of Star Melodies, The Daily Star's regular initiative to promote Bangla music, a soiree highlighting songs of Tagore's lyrical dramas and dance dramas will be held on Friday, May 13 at The Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct.
The programme will feature songs by promising young Tagore artistes -- Shuma Roy, Shimu De, Chhaya Karmakar, Nayeema Islam Raj, Dipanjan Mukherjee, Mustafizur Rahman, Anupam Kumar Paul and Jibon Chowdhury, performing songs from popular Tagore lyrical and dance drama productions “Shyama”, “Mayar Khela”, “Chitrangada”, “Shapmochon” and “Bhogno Hridoy”.
Eminent dance exponent Sharmila Banerjee and her troupe Nritya Nandan will present a brief demonstration on Rabindra Nritya Dhara at the event, while noted Tagore singer Salma Akbar will talk about the musical aspect of the works. Sadya Afreen Mallick will compere the event.
The programme will be held from 6:30pm at The Daily Star Centre. Invitation passes can be collected from The Daily Star Centre. Seats are limited and available on first-come first-serve basis.
