Young Bangladeshi acrobats head to China

An 11-member children's acrobatic team of Bangladesgh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is flying for China today for a one-year acrobatic training programme there.

An 11-member children's acrobatic team of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is flying for China today for a one-year acrobatic training programme there. 

Ministry of Cultural Affairs of China, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh and BSA have jointly initiated the cultural exchange programme. 

This year, 10 Bangladeshi children, led by a team leader will enroll at Beijing International Arts School. Another similar team will head for the training next year. 

A programme was held yesterday at Studio Theatre Hall of BSA to see them off, where Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest while Chinese ambassador Ma Mingqiang attended as special guest. BSA DG Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the programme. Secretary and director of Theatre and Film Department of BSA Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury delivered welcome address. 

Following discussions by the guests, the outgoing Bangladesh children showcased acrobatics at the event. 

It is worth mentioning that in 1994, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bangladesh established an Acrobatic Training Centre in Rajbari under the project - Fine and Performing Arts Training. Korean experts taught acrobatics there. After the project ended in 2000, Liaquat Ali Lucky affiliated Rajbari Acrobatic Training Centre with BSA in 2011 and formed BSA Acrobatic Team in 2012. Since then, the team has performed in 93 acrobatic shows in all 64 districtsm and taken part in several workshops.
