Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a two-day special installation exhibition at its premises, along with cultural programmes and a candle-light vigil, marking March 25, the dark night in the country's history on which date in 1971 the Pakistan army launched a genocide against Bangalees.

The programme is part of BSA's “Shilper Aloye Muktijuddho” programme.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the exhibition, titled “71 er Borborota” by artist Mintu De based on planning by BSA DG Liaquat Ali Lucky, on March 26 afternoon. Liaquat Ali Lucky chaired the session, which was also attended by secretary of the Cultural Affairs ministry Md. Nasiruddin Ahmed and Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury.

After the inauguration, school-children and attendees of the event then lit candles and held them high as a tribute to those martyred on March 25. A cultural programme followed where artistes rendered patriotic songs such as “Daam Diye Kinechhi Bangla”, “Shob Kota Janala Khule Dao Na” and “Ek Sagor Rokter Binimoye”.

The installation aims to depict the heinous crimes committed by the Pakistani army during the Liberation War, using sculptured figures and dramatic lighting. “71 er Borborota” ended yesterday at the open premises of BSA.
