Int'l Photo Carnival held at AUW
A two-day photography exhibition, 4th AUW Photo Carnival 2016 concluded at Asian University of Women (AUW) in Chittagong on Saturday.
Organised by the photography club of AUW, the exhibition was inaugurated by Munira Morshed Munni.
The exhibit featured photographs by 54participants -- ranging from professional to amateur photographers -- who represented nine countries including UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Nepal, Bhutan and India.
Sanjida Afrin Kabir, president of AUW Photography Club, said that they had organised the carnival with an aim to promote and encourage young photographers so that they could explore their talents further.
“We did not ask the participants to pay any kind of registration fee so that no one with talent had to miss out,” she said.
An interesting session named 'Chhobir Adda' was also held at the carnival with participation of renowned photographers.
Chathuri Weerasinghe, a participant from Sri Lanka expressed her gratitude to AUW Photography Club for arranging such an event, and said it was a great opportunity for her. “We got to express our views through photographs”, she added.
Eminent photographer Abir Abdullah, Munira Morshed Munni and Ashraful Awal Mishuk took part in discussion. They shared their experiences with the participants and engaged in Q&A session with them.
Abir Abdullah said if more of such exhibitions were held the students would learn to think about how they could get involved in such kind of creative activities.
The carnival concluded with a prize giving ceremony followed by a colourful cultural programme participated by the students of the university.
