Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) has organised an exhibition titled “Soul to Soul”, featuring  works of Nicola Strippoli Tarshito at Nalinikanta Bhattashali Gallery of Bangladesh National Museum. The exhibition delineates a voyage of discovery through the threads of Bengal embroidery.

Finance Minister AMA Muhit inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on November 19. Italian ambassador Mario Palma graced the occasion as special guest. Apart from Tarshito, Faizul Latif Chowdhury, Director General of BNM, delivered welcome address at the event.

“Tarshito has been working towards fusion of the countries, cultures of the countries and arts of the countries. In one of his works he has designed the geographical map of Bangladesh in the upper part while he has decorated the map of Italy in the bottom. The exhibition is an enjoyable initiative for the art lovers,” said AMA Muhit.

“This is a beautiful exhibition not only by the works, but also by the wonderful cooperation between the female artisans and the artist himself. This is a cross cultural exchange between Italy and Bangladesh. The central point of Tarshito exhibition is humanity while the focal point of great philosopher Lalon's songs is humanity. A union between Lalon's songs with Tarshito's artistic endeavours with the artisans is the song of love and the song of life,” said Mario Palma.

Among others, an artisan Totini Saha of Jessore and Maya Barolo Rizvi spoke at the event.

Renowned Italian architect, professor and artist Nicola Strippoli Tarshito loves to relay unity among all the forms of art. The three-week solo exhibition by the artist is his second solo show in Bangladesh. In January 2015, Bengal Foundation organised his first solo exhibition.
