“Shikolbaha” looking for actors

Acclaimed filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon's latest feature film venture, titled 'Shikolbaha” (“Iron Stream”), is looking to cast fresh faces in its central characters.

The film's production company, Shuchona Projojona shared a post on their Facebook page inviting interested participants to audition for roles. The deadline for applying participants is on March 26. 

The adventure film depicts the journey of two young friends who become lost, in search of a river. Directed and scripted by Kamar Ahmad Simon, the film is produced by Sarah Afreen. The central characters comprise of two young men and one young woman above the age of 30.

The film, formerly titled “Shonkhodhoni” (“Silence of the Seashell”), had won the World Cinema Fund grant at the 2016 edition of the prestigious Berlin Film Festival. Kamar was also invited at the La Fabrique Cinemas du Monde at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival for the script of this film. The film has also won a National Film Grant from the Bangladesh government.

“Shikolbaha” is looking to find and cast for around 47 characters between the ages of 12-90 for various roles in the film. The Facebook post shared by the production house says: “There is no such thing as side characters; every individual in a film play an integral role in the plot. This is why we are looking for new talents to fill in the roles.”
