Exciting “X-Men: Apocalypse” trailer lands
“X-Men: Apocalypse” will conclude the second trilogy set up for the mighty Marvel mutants, and will present Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and his team with their deadliest threat yet. Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is a centuries-old mutant – perhaps the world's first mutant – who has risen from his slumber with revitalized plans for world domination. Get a sense of his power in the first full trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse”, which dropped on Saturday.
Following the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, Xavier and his First Class crew occupy a different timeline. Magneto's still an enemy, but heroes who were introduced by director Bryan Singer in the initial X-Men trilogy are now played by younger actors. Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) are students at Xavier's school, while their eventual teammate, Storm (Alexandra Shipp), is in Egypt… and about to become the tool of the mighty, terrifying Apocalypse.
But that's just the top of the iceberg. “X-Men: Apocalypse” has an insane amount of characters involved in the action, and truthfully, part of the reason fans are so excited to see it is to witness how Bryan Singer manages to juggle each and every storyline. The film is getting fresh versions of classic characters like Angel (Ben Hardy) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit McPhee). And he has to make room for the stalwarts of the First Class nation, including Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and McAvoy. All while neglecting to shortchange the new villain, who is supposed to be a global threat – as is indicated by Xavier's final words in this new trailer. Apocalypse, as presented in the trailer, is older than the Bible, and seems to be the most powerful mutant that Charles has encountered.
There's still plenty of time for Bryan Singer and his team to tease. “X-Men: Apocalypse” opens in theatres on May 27, a lucky slot for the X-Men saga over the years.
