Titanic emotion for Kate Winslet…

Ferdous responds to queries of fans!
Koyel, Chittagong: Would you act again in a remake of the film “Hothath Brishti”? What would your reaction be if new actors played roles in the remake?

Arts and Entertainment featured film star Ferdous in the monthly “Ask Away” series this month. The actor sportingly responded to his fans' questions:

Koyel, Chittagong: Would you act again in a remake of the film “Hothath Brishti”? What would your reaction be if new actors played roles in the remake?

Ferdous: I'll want no one to act in the remake version of the film. I'd be really happy if it's never re-made! However, I have a personal wish to make a film titled “Hothath Brishti Ebong Tarpor” in the days to come. “Hothath Brishti” was released in 1998. It can be done after 20 years. Satyajit Ray's “Aranye Ekdin” was remade as “Abar Aranye”.

Tareq, Dhaka: Which Bangla film actor influences you the most?

Ferdous: Uttam Kumar, because his heroic image is more powerful than his acting prowess. In my view, Uttam Kumar is a film hero of all seasons. He was a successful hero in his time; he is still alive in our minds and will influence forthcoming generations equally. When Uttam Kumar walks, his heroic image surpasses all else. So, Uttam Kumar influences me the most. One can become an actor, but becoming a hero is not easy…

Shamsi, Mohammadpur: You have so far produced films. Any plans to go in for film direction?

Ferdous: Directing a film is very tough; it requires a fine balance. The director of a film is like the captain of a ship as he is responsible for the entire film. Direction requires mental preparation that I feel I am not ready for. Acting is my passion. It will take time for me to direct a film and I would first like to do a course on film direction.

Karim, Dhaka: Who would you like to co-star with given the opportunity to get a famous actress on board?

Ferdous: Kate Winslet. I fell in love with her after watching “Titanic”.

Sayeed, Comilla: Which film do you rate as your best?

Ferdous: It is difficult to say. Every film of mine is like my child. I simply love to work. My favourite films are those that received National Film Awards. At the same time those didn't receive awards are great too. So it is really difficult to judge.

Sohel, Khulna: Tell us about your experience of working in “Krishnopokkho”?

Ferdous: I had great experiences working in it. Shaon has directed the film very well and with maturity.

Neela, Dhanmondi, Dhaka: Did you miss Humayun Ahmed while working in “Krishnopokkho”?

Ferdous: I missed him badly. Humayun Ahmed never called me Ferdous; he addressed me as “Nayak”. He is what he is, and missing him is very natural.
