Dipa Khandaker has been involved with TV plays for over a decade. In her long career span, she has played different roles. Besides acting on television drama, she has ventured into anchoring. In a recent chit-chat with The Daily Star, the popular star shared stories about her profession life and more.

Have you minimized your workload recently?

Dipa: Yes. I now work seven to eight days a month. I could continue daily but it would impede my other duties towards my family. However, I am quite content with how things are going, as I have plenty of time to give to my children.

Which TV play marked a turning point in your life?

Dipa: It was my first 13-episode serial “Kaktarua”. After the telecast of its fifth episode, I received great reviews from the audience.

Many of your contemporary artistes are into films but we are yet to see you in that domain. What is the reason for that?

Dipa: Early in my career, I was flooded with offers for films. I avoided it largely due to the lack of family-friendly scripts and good roles. However, if a good script comes my way, there will be no reason to turn it down.

Does acting ever bore you?

Dipa: I love acting, but it does become tedious when unskilled actors are showcased more on screen.

What character do you prefer to play onscreen?

Dipa: I am mostly invited to play positive roles but now I want to portray a more challenging role -- that of a villain.

You are also hosting a TV show these days …

Dipa: I am hosting the programme “Housewife”. Earlier, I anchored a culinary show as well.

Do you believe in astrology?

Dipa: Well, that depends. But I love reading astrology-related articles.

How do you spend your leisure time?

Dipa: I love watching movies during my spare time.

Do you have any professional tips for the newcomers?

Dipa: I'm yet to become such a skilled artiste to give tips on the issue. I can however say that those who are joining the profession should work with love and honesty and take it seriously.
