AN ASSORTMENT OF DIVERSE MELODIES
Bangladesh's National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam enriched almost all genres of Bangla songs. His compositions are based on the solid foundation of Indian classical music. Nazrul created 18 distinct ragas; composed Khayal, Thumri and Tappa-styled Bangla songs; Kabyageeti, Bhajan, Kirtan, Ghazal, Shyama Sangeet, Islamic songs and more.
The second day of the three-day (October 27-29) Nazrul Mela predominantly focused on the solo performance of Nazrul Sangeet by several prominent and promising artistes of the country.
Sadia Islam Mou led her team to display a vibrant dance piece, set on the song “Chol Chol Chol” while noted elocutionist Mahidul Islam nicely recited a Nazrul Abhibhashon “Jodi Aar Banshi Na Bajey”.
Renowned Nazrul singer Professor Dr. Nashid Kamal first took the stage to perform an Islamic song “Bheshe Jaye Hridoyo Amar”, popularised by legendary artiste Abbasuddin Ahmed. She also presented another song “Mohul Bon-e Phul Phutechhe” on request.

He started off with a Raga Pilu-based “Sur-e O Banir Mala Diye” and later mesmerised the audience with the presentation of two Ghazals, “Gul Bagichar Bulbuli Ami” and “Modir Ankhi Shudhaye Saki”. The artiste has a hallmark of rendering the romantic song “Mor Priya Hobe Esho Rani”. As always he did justice to the song. It was followed by the rendition of a dadra “Priyo Jai Jai Bolona”.
