Renowned Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar has stirred up trouble after comparing RSS, the Indian right-wing organisation, to the Taliban.

Advocate Dhritiman Joshi, who is associated with the RSS, filed a defamation complaint against the lyricist for his controversial statement.

Joshi, who saw Javed Akhar's programme on September 4 stated that the lyricist is trying to confuse the citizens about the organisation by comparing it to the Islamist group Taliban.

Joshi accused Akhtar of unnecessarily defaming RSS as part of a calculated and well-planned move and sought an investigation against him. The court will hear the matter on October 30.

Santosh Dubey, a Mumbai-based advocate, also sued the lyricist for his RSS and Taliban statement. He described Akhtar's remarks as "false and derogatory" and demanded an unconditional apology.

Dubey further added that if Akhtar fails to apologise within 7 days, he will file a criminal case against the lyricist, seeking compensation of Rs 100 crore.
