Renowned lyricist Shahid Mahmud Jangi undergoing surgery
Renowned lyricist Shahid Mahmud Jangi is currently undergoing a surgery at United Hospital in Dhaka. The news was confirmed to The Daily Star by Naquib Khan, celebrated singer and frontman of the band Renaissance.
Shahid Mahmud Jangi suffered from a head injury while travelling a couple of months back, mentions noted lyricist Asif Iqbal. Consequently, he had a headache for a few days afterwards.
"Doctors found a blood clot in his brain after a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan," adds Naquib Khan. "The surgery will be around 4 to 5 hours long."
Shahid Mahmud Jangi has carved a niche for himself in the field of songwriting with a number of hit songs for many pioneering Bangladeshi bands and singers. He penned songs like "Hridoy Kada Matir Kono Murti Noy" (Renaissance), "Ekdin Ghum Bhanga Shohore" (LRB) and "Shomoy Jeno Katena" (Samina Chowdhury), among others.
