“Shobai Ekjaat” bags Best Documentary Award
Bangladeshi documentary film “Shobai Ekjaat” directed by Mridul Mamun bagged the award for “Best Documentary” at Celluloid '17, according to a press release. Held at the end of Bangla Year 1423 from April 8-10, Celluloid '17 is a film festival based in Kolkata that provides a platform for short films of all genres. The event is organised by Future Institute of Engineering and Management in association with Estrella Productions.
The event witnessed the presence of many prominent figures from West Bengal including Sabyasachi Chakrabarty of the Feluda series fame and many more. Mridul Mamun has received high acclaim for his works such as “Kobutor Raaj” and “GotipoT” at various film festivals. He is currently the General Secretary of Bangladesh Short Film Forum. “Shobai Ekjaat” is a film that explores the motivations around Mohammad Afzal's reasons for joining the 1971 uprising against Pakistani oppression, despite being from West Pakistan himself.
