ABU Radio Asia Conference and Radio Song Festival 2019 concludes today

The three-day Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Radio Asia Conference and Radio Song Festival 2019, hosted by Bangladesh Betar at InterContinental Dhaka, concludes today. The theme of this year’s festival is “Radio All Around Us: More than just a medium.” An exhibition of different radio collectibles is also underway at InterContinental Dhaka.

The three-day Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Radio Asia Conference and Radio Song Festival 2019, hosted by Bangladesh Betar at InterContinental Dhaka, concludes today. The theme of this year’s festival is “Radio All Around Us: More than just a medium.” An exhibition of different radio collectibles is also underway at InterContinental Dhaka.

Narayan Chandra Shil, Director General, Bangladesh Betar, gave the welcome address at the inauguration ceremony. It was followed by speeches from special guests, Dr Javad Mottaghi, Secretary General, ABU, and Dr Md Murad Hasan, MP, State Minister, Ministry of Information. Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Information, was the chief guest. Abdul Malek, Secretary, Ministry of Information, presided over the event. The ABU Radio Song Festival is a showcase of unsigned talent from across the Asia-Pacific region. Talented artistes from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Nepal, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Iran and Maldives are participating at the event. This year, Bangladesh Television will host the Gala Performance of the festival.

This is the first time that Bangladesh is hosting an ABU festival, having made their debut appearance in the ABU International Dance Festival earlier this year in Delhi.
