Actor Shopon Siddiqui passes away due to COVID-19
Film and television actor Shopon Siddiqui passed away at the age of 61 at 12:30 noon today, according to S A Haque Alik, General Secretary, Directors' Guild.
Siddiqui was not keeping well for the past 2 weeks and tested positive for COVID-19 on July 8. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on July 9.
Born in 1960 in Nakhalpara, he has been working as an actor in the Bangladeshi film and television industries for the last 30 years. He was also a member of the executive committee at Television and Digital Programme Producers Association Bangladesh. He was also a member of Directors' Guild and Actors' Equity Bangladesh. He was the editor of Shadhinota Sanskriti Parishad Bangladesh. Siddiqui also produced a few serials for television.
He will be taken to his sister's residence at Nakhalpara for his final rites. He has left behind his wife and two daughters.
