‘Afeenolove’ feels love from listeners
When someone told me the name of Dads in the Park's newest single, I mistook it for Afim o Love, and prayed that the band wouldn't go in that trajectory. However, the indie up and comers have not disappointed their fanbase with their third single, gleefully titled Afeenolove, a play on the words "I feel no love".
Dads in the Park is a two-man project comprised of Ishmam Salim and Tajwar Ul Islam. Maheyan Hasan from Conclusion and False Cassette played as the guest bassist for the song. "We were playing the song at Maheyan's residence, when he spontaneously joined in with the bass," says Ishmam. "It fit pretty well, and I don't think anyone could have done a better job than him."
One of the highlights of the music video is the blissful animation, done by Etchin.' The illustration, done by Ishmam himself, reaches a comic-book level of fidelity. The song itself is bright and breezy, complemented well by the bright guitar tones that remind you of a vintage 60's telecaster. "I'm keen on 7th chords in my songs and groovy strumming patterns, as you will find in Afeenolove," says Ishmam, who is also the lyricist of the song. Tajwar's smooth solos are a cherry on top of the cake.
Primarily composing songs in English, Dads in the Park debuted in 2019 with Lullaby, and followed it up with Pareidolia earlier this year.
