Applauding the frontline fighters of the coronavirus pandemic
An applause campaign was arranged in Bangladesh at 7 pm today, during which people from all walks of life clapped their hands for the frontline fighters in the battle against the coronavirus, from their homes. The campaign was aimed at getting the public to show their appreciation for the essential workers, who have not stepped back from their duties, during this battle.
Healthcare providers are being celebrated all over the world for their dedication at this time of crisis. In this global emergency, they have been treating coronavirus patients daily, often at great personal risk.
Besides the healthcare providers, armed forces, journalists and other frontline professionals are working hard every day to save lives and support communities in these critical times. They truly deserve our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. The successful campaign, which was launched on social media, acknowledged their contributions in this pandemic.
Renowned dancer and choreographer Munmun Ahmed and her neighbours were seen on a Facebook video, clapping hands from their rooftop. "We appreciate the sincere efforts of our frontline fighters. Apart from the healthcare professionals, army, police, RAB and journalists, many others are doing a great job in the fight against the coronavirus. We sincerely thank and congratulate them," said Munmun Ahmed, while clapping hands.
Ekram Ahmed, former ED of Nazrul Institute, along with several of his friends shared the idea and initiated the campaign on Facebook. "This is a global campaign that we have taken up for the first time in Bangladesh. We must recognise the contributions of the frontline professionals and inspire them," he shared.
