Apurba Sharma’s creative journey during the pandemic

Apurba Sharma, a poet from Sylhet, has been avidly working on poems and songs on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apurba Sharma, a poet from Sylhet, has been avidly working on poems and songs on the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has written a total of 20 poems, including Jago Manush, Shunte Pao Shishur Kanna, Aalo Ashbei, Manush Boro Osohay and Katbe Adhar among others.

The poem, Dekha Hobe Milon Mohonay, was recited by 15 renowned reciters, writers and poets of the country in a group presentation. The recitation was televised on Channel i, recently.

Noted writer and journalist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, novelist Selina Hossain, poet Asad Chowdhury, Pijush Bandyopadhyay, Dalia Ahmed, Shimul Mustapha, Ahkam Ullah, Mahidul Islam, and Rabishankar Maitri among others recited his poems. Indian musicians Shubha Prashad, Nandi Majumder, Gouri Chowdhury, and Animesh Bijoy Chowdhury have collaborated with Apurba.

 "People need to be inspired and rejuvenated in these tough times," shares Apurba. "I tried to depict people's sufferings through my work."

A liberation war researcher, journalist and columnist, the poet was honoured with HSBC-Kali O Kolom Young Poets and Litterateur award for his works on the Liberation War, in 2010.
