Bengal Foundation’s ‘Gaaner Jhorna Tolaay’ concludes today
Bengal Foundation has organised a three-day musical programme, titled Gaaner Jhorna Tolaay, at Bengal Shilpalay, which concludes today.
Both renowned and promising artistes are performing in the event. On the opening day, students of Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay paid homage to the recently deceased music exponent Ustad Mobarak Hossain Khan, with a classical music soiree, titled Agrahayan-Poush Baithak. The event started off with a sarangi recital of RagaMadhuvanti by Shounik Debnath. Anjan Sarkar accompanied him on the tabla.
Ilham Phuljhuri Khan and Isra Phuljhuri Khan took the stage to perform a duet sarod recital of Raga Kirwani. Ratan Kumar Das was on the tabla. Kaniz Husna Ahammadi rendered a kheyal set on Raga Puria Dhanashree, accompanied by Prashanta Bhowmik on the tabla and Tinku Shil on the harmonium. The opening day’s performances concluded with a solo sitar recital by guest artiste Reenat Fauzia. Prashanta Bhowmik accompanied her on the tabla.
Renowned Tagore singers Bulbul Islam, Mita Haque and Shrabani Majumdar were the featured artistes of Bengal Foundation’s Praner Khela yesterday. Today, the event will conclude with the launching of two solo albums, Je Amaay Kanday by Mostafizur Rahman Turja and Chameli Tomari Chand by Sharmin Sathi Islam, produced by Bengal Foundation. Mafidul Haque, eminent essayist and one of the trustees of the Liberation War Museum, will unveil the albums.
