Bipasha Hayat is an established actress, screenwriter and painter, but even many of her most ardent fans don't know about her singing prowess. But it is with music that Bipasha took her first steps into the cultural world, learning from the likes of Khalid Hossain, Akhtar Samdani, Sanjida Khatun and Mita Haq.

Now, for a Pahela Baishakh programme on Bangladesh Television, Bipasha will give the audience a glimpse into her latent talent. On “Bakbakum Payra” tonight after the 10pm news, Bipasha will be seen singing “Sundori Komola”, along with Joler Gaan.

“It was on Afzal uncle's (Afzal Hossain, who is the anchor for the show) request that I decided to do the song. I've always listened to a lot of music, but never practiced it much.” The actress couldn't remember how long it has been since the last time she sang on TV, but remembered it was for Bangladesh Television. She had earlier sung in popular variety shows -- Hanif Sanket's “Ittyadi” and Abdun Noor Tushar's “Shubheccha”.
