Bishwajit Goswami, one of the finest contemporary artists of Bangladesh and a lecturer at the Department of Drawing and Painting of University of Dhaka, works on many significant art projects. An alumnus of University of Dhaka and Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, he experiments with time and space.

The artist travels with the iconography “Ma” (Mother), depicted in the form of a conventional rickshaw painting, which epitomises the cosmos, nature, motherland, the society and culture.

“When I visited China for an art project in 2015, my wife was expecting a baby; absence made my heart grow fonder and I contemplated about my wife and the expected baby. This was how I started the art project titled 'Traveling with Mother,” said Bishwajit.

In this ongoing project, he performs with women from different cultures and geographical areas. “Six accomplished female artists are helping me in the project enacting six interconnected characters — “Ma (Mother), Mati (Soil) Manush (Human Beings), Bhasha (Language), Swadesh (Motherland) and Prokriti (Mother Nature) for the comprehensive art project.”
