BLCPS starts registration to protect artistes' intellectual property rights

Bangladesh Lyricist, Composers and Performers Society (BLCPS) started member registration to protect the artiste’s rights of intellectual property and to collect royalties on August 22.

BLCPS is the country's first Collective Management Organisation (CMO) and has been working since 2014 to preserve the financial and moral interests of the musicians of the country.

Renowned artistes and band members of the country gathered at BLCPS' Gulshan headquarters recently to start the registration process. The registration process will continue for the next few days.

BLCPS Chairperson Sabina Yasmin, renowned composer Sheikh Sadi Khan and Nazrul exponent Sujit Mustafa were present virtually, due to the pandemic situation.

Miles, Artcell, Feedback, Warfaze, Souls, Pentagon, Lalon, Shunno, Powersurge, Dreek and Trainwreck, among other bands, successfully completed their registration on the first day.

Hamin Ahmed, Shafin Ahmed, Manam Ahmed, Partha Barua, Bappa Mazumder, Amzad Hossain, Naved Parvez, Suhrid Sufian and Parvez Sazzad, among other, renowned artistes completed their registration process.

BLCPS's legal advisor, A B M Hamidul Misbah, talked to the attendees about the various advantages of joining, and the organisation's different activities.
