The fifth installment of Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge was held online, recently. The weekly contest, organised by Cartoon People, featured renowned musician, Fuad Almuqtadir.

Alarming issues and challenges came into the limelight during Cartoon People's conversation with the musician. "We talked a lot about how young artistes should plan their future to turn their passion into their profession. Even though it's a show about caricatures, during the conversation, we observed that the challenges across all creative professions are quite similar," shared noted cartoonist Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy, the founder of Cartoon People. "Though we are creators coming from different mediums and backgrounds, the struggles, dedication and passion we share are mutual and universal. There are times when we burn out. It's important to acknowledge that and seek help, and know that there are systemic approaches to recover and come back in full force."

During the live event, Fuad asked several questions regarding the participants' inspirations behind choosing art as a profession. He was also keen on collaborating with them. "Not everyone can be an academic topper, but if you are good at something and get the opportunity to work towards your improvement, then you should go ahead," said Morshed Mishu, in response to Fuad's questions.

Fuad also shared the factors he considers before investing time in an aspiring artiste. "There are two things that I look at -- the personality of the individual and the will power of the artiste, because of which they are not afraid of losing," he mentioned.

The winners of the Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge 5 are: Adnan Jawad (first place), Walker Bin Zaman (second place), Anup Arobindo (third place), and Nafisa Anjum (fourth place). The next segment of this challenge is going to feature Xefer Rahman.
