Cast of Srijit Mukherji’s first Hoichoi original unveiled
The cast of acclaimed Indian director Srijit Mukherji's Hoichoi original series, "Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni", based on Mohammad Nazim Uddin's thriller novel, was unveiled at a virtual conference on December 24, 2020. Celebrated Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon is set to play the role of Muskan Zuberi in the series. Other cast members include Anjan Dutt (Kharaj Khasnobis), Rahul Bose (Nirupam Chanda), Anirban Bhattacharya (Ator Ali) and Anirban Chakrabarti (OC Tapas Sikder).
This series is Srijit Mukherji's first collaboration with Hoichoi. It is among Hoichoi's slate of 25 new originals, for their fourth year.
"We intended to shoot in Bangladesh, with an entirely Bangladeshi cast on this Bangladeshi thriller adaptation, but our plans were interrupted by the pandemic. As a result, we began working on the series in India, with an Indian cast," said Srijit Mukherji at the conference.
"I always wanted to cast Badhon in the role of Muskan Zuberi. Once we decided to shoot in India and move forward with an Indian cast, I wanted to cast Paoli Dam in the role, but we could not collaborate with her due to scheduling conflicts. Eventually, I went back to my first choice — Badhon."
"When Srijit Mukherji came to me with the role of Muskan Zuberi, I was speechless. I couldn't believe it," said Badhon. "As a director, he has a lot of confidence in me, and I will do my best to bring his vision to life."
"I agreed to work on the series right after I read the script. The writing was excellent," shared Rahul Bose. "Srijit Mukherji looks at things with a creative heart. He does not look at things with a commercial mind. We have just begun shooting the series, and it has been wonderful so far. I am really looking forward to the rest of the process."
"Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni" is Rahul's first web series.
"This is my seventh project with Srijit Mukherji. He has always given me a wide array of roles, and the role of Ator Ali brought another enjoyable challenge for me," added Anirban Bhattacharya.
The cast and crew of the series are currently shooting in India.
