Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary

The High Commission of India, Dhaka celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi yesterday.

The High Commission of India, Dhaka celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi yesterday. H E Dr Dipu Moni, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest. Artistes from over 124 countries paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by singing his favourite bhajan, Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye. The High Commissioner handed over the book, Vaishnav Jan Toh Tene Kahiye to renowned Rabindra Sangeet exponent and distinguished ICCR alumni awardee Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, in recognition for her rendition of Gandhi’s favourite bhajan. The celebrations also included a musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by Sharmila Banerjee and her team.
