Chhayanaut celebrates Sufia Kamal's birth anniversary

To celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of Poet Sufia Kamal, cultural organisation Chhayanaut held a celebration programme at its Ramesh Chandra Datta Smriti Milonkendra yesterday morning.

Chhayanaut artistes set off the event with a choral song “Bhubon Jora Ashon Khani” while cultural personality AFM Saifuddoula spoke on life and works of the poet. Noted singers -- Iffat Ara Dewan, Suman Majumder, Nasima Shaheen Fancy, Elora Ahmed Shukla, Biman Chandra Biswas and Nayeema Isman Naz rendered solo songs. Abdus Sabur Khan Chowdhury and Mahmuda Akhtar recited at the programme.

Born on June 20, 1911, Poet Sufia Kamal was also the founding president of Chhayanaut.
