Children Fair at Puppet World 2019

Various kinds of puppet acts including thread puppet, rod puppet, gloves puppet, shadow puppet, and more, were arranged for the youngsters along with photo sessions, games, and food corners.

Regarding the initiative, Arthur Baptist Mukto, the backbone of Dhaka Puppet Theater, said, “I plan to distribute a sense of equality and wisdom in the young minds. As puppets are colourful and entertaining, it is an enjoyable way to enhance creativity as well,” he added.

Two puppet dramas, Pantaburi (shadow puppet act) and Pakhi Chana (muppet act), were staged at the auditorium. Besides the acts, Chandrabindu Tota had his Abol Tabol Puppet Theater corner where he displayed gloves puppet crafted with his own tiny infant hands. Also, traditional stringed puppet acts were put up by the Brahmanbaria Oitijjhobahi Bani-Beena Putul Nach, where Mohammad Sacchu Mia's puppet crew amused the audiences with a live musical concert. Besides the entertainment, a seminar titled Virtual Virus was arranged for the parents, where issues regarding child development and parenting were discussed.

Elaborating on recent parenting issues, Eshita Jahangir from the Dhaka Puppet Theater mentioned, “Nowadays, we try to avoid our responsibilities as parents and try to substitute our presence with a mobile phone or tablet. This is the awareness we want to raise through our seminars.”
