Coronavirus Pandemic: Applauding frontline fighters from our homes
As we grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, healthcare providers, armed forces, journalists and other frontline professionals are ceaselessly working hard, risking their own lives daily, in these critical times. They truly deserve our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.
To acknowledge their contributions in this pandemic, a campaign has been kicked off on social media. The programme involves clapping hands for the frontline fighters at 7pm on May 12 (Tuesday), from our homes. The participants will clap hands, standing at the windows, balconies or verandas of their places of residence. People already outside can join the campaign from wherever they are.
Ekram Ahmed, former ED of Nazrul Institute, along with several of his friends shared the idea and initiated the campaign on Facebook. "The applause campaign is aimed at showing our appreciation for those who are the key fighters against the coronavirus pandemic," said Ekram Ahmed. "This is a global campaign that we are yet to take up in Bangladesh. We must recognise the contributions of the key workers and inspire them."
We urge everyone to join the campaign at 7 pm on May 12, as we applaud the key workers across Bangladesh, from our windows, balconies and doorways.
