First cycle of Bengal Cinematheque concludes today
Bengal Cinematheque, a quarterly series of private film screenings, presented by Bengal Foundation, began its first quarterly cycle of films in April – through displaying films of Terrence Malick (USA) and Michelangelo Antonioni (Italy). On the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, a film from each filmmaker was shown at the Daily Star-Bengal Arts precinct. The first cycle of the Bengal Cinematheque project closes today with the screening of “Days of Heaven” (1978) by Malick. Antonioni's “La Notte” was screened yesterday at the same venue.
Entry is free, but seating is limited for the screenings.
The second cycle of films, set to begin soon, will feature films from two remarkable Asian directors: Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand) and Yasujirō Ozu (Japan).
