James, also known as the modern guru of Bangladeshi rock, has accomplished unimaginable feats since he started his career with the band Feelings. Today marks the National Award winning artiste's 56th birthday.

Born in 1964 in Naogaon, Faruq Mahfuz Anam was brought up in Chittagong. He took up the moniker of 'James' as a stage name, winning the hearts of millions of music lovers not only in Bangladesh, but all over the world.

James likes to spend this special day with his family and loved ones. However, his fans are the ones who hold grand celebrations on his birthday, commemorating their favourite musician.

Every year, many fan groups arrange this treat for the children on James' birthday. Some fans would make billboards for him. The groups 'Dushtu Cheler Dol' and 'James Fan Club' will collaborate today to feed orphaned children in the capital's Nazira Bazar today.

The famed artist last performed on stage on March 1 at University of Dhaka, right before the pandemic hit the country.

Since March 8, he has been staying home due to the COVID-19 threat. The multi-talented musician is spending his time practicing guitar and photography, reading books, and watching movies. He requested his fans and well-wishers to have patience and stay safe.
