Yakshagana is a folk theatre art form of Karnataka, India. Yakshagana literally means the song (gana) of the yaksha (nature spirits). In this folk art form, which has centuries of history behind it, stories from great Indian epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat are shown in the form of theatre. This art form has been compared to the Western tradition of opera.

The leader of the eight-member Yakshagana troupe, Nagaraj Joshi, is a graduate with a diploma in dramatics. For the past 35 years he has organised and played in hundreds of Yakshagana shows through his organisation Shabara.

Yakshagana troupe will also perform at Satkhira Shilpakala Academy at 6:30 pm on October 14 and at Khulna Club at 6:30 pm on October 15.
