Iqbal and Nipa's works at UNESCO exhibit

Artworks by reputed Bangladeshi artists Maqsuda Iqbal Nipa and Mohammad Iqbal were displayed at the UNESCO exhibition in Paris on March 8, marking the International Women's Day.

Artworks by reputed Bangladeshi artists Maqsuda Iqbal Nipa and Mohammad Iqbal were displayed at the UNESCO exhibition in Paris on March 8, marking the International Women's Day. 

The 10-day exhibition was inaugurated by Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO at Sale des Pas Perdue of UNESCO Building. She praised the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in women empowerment in Bangladesh.

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCO, M Shahidul Islam introduced the two Bangladeshi artists and their artworks. Paris-based renowned Bangladeshi artist Shahabuddin Ahmed, diplomats, French government officials, and art enthusiasts from the French society attended the event.   

The theme of this year's exhibition is “Women's role in Sustainable Development”, which brought together paintings by artists from Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Togo, Turkey and Ukraine. 

Nipa and Iqbal were selected to represent the Asia-Pacific region, and contributed four paintings each to the exhibition. 
The exhibition remains open for public until March 18.
